Extreme Jealousy in Relationships

Jealousy and envy are painful emotions that can be hard to distinguish from one another, says Aaron Ben-Zeév, philosophy professor at University of Haifa and the author of "In the Name of Love." When you are jealous, you fear that you may lose a loved one's affection or favoritism to someone else. When you are envious, you perceive yourself as getting the short end of the stick. Ben-Zeév has found that lovers of unavailable people experience both emotions. They want more, and they don't want to lose what they have. This puts them at risk for developing morbid, or extreme, jealousy. Love chemicals run amok, competitor genes and social conventions can also trigger extreme jealousy.

Morbid Jealousy

Jealousy in moderation is normal. It shows that we care about a spouse or partner. Morbid jealousy is pathological. 2. I almsot married a man with extreme jealousy. Hidden behind his jealousy was an abusive monster. He loves when his children feel sorry for him. Do abusive jealous men seek pity from everyone around them. Do they lack confidence where they abuse children too? I started realizing that about him, so I knew that leaving him was a good desicion for me and my child. There are plenty of fish in the sea and I chose to leave the shark. Life is good.

  4. I, unfortuantely, fell prey to an abusive man who had morbid jealousy problems. He came into my life PRETENDING to be someone other than what he truly was. He lied about his past, pretending to be the one that was betrayed, when in fact, he was the one who betrayed his ex wife. I have to say that he was one sick individual and I am soooo glad that I did not marry him. Everyday, I wake up and say YES, I am free, I am free from frankenstein. I eventually did find my true love. He is just a warm good-hearted guy. He is honest and everything I ever hoped for. After a hurricane is a rainbow.
